Geodetic ↔ UTM projection converter
Project geodetic latitude and longitude to UTM Easting and Northing, or reverse UTM grid coordinates to geodetic coordinates, with explicit zone, hemisphere and ellipsoid settings.
Coordinate input
Calculated coordinates
UTM uses scale factor 0.9996 at the central meridian, false Easting 500,000 m, and false Northing 10,000,000 m in the Southern Hemisphere.
Important interpretation note
This is a projection calculation, not a datum transformation. The input coordinates must already be compatible with the selected ellipsoid and datum.
Automatic zone selection applies the standard Norway and Svalbard exceptions. Normal UTM coverage is 80°S to 84°N.
Batch processing
Process a CSV or XLSX file locally
The first worksheet is used. Forward files require latitude and longitude columns. Reverse files require Easting, Northing and UTM zone information.
Preview
The preview shows up to 12 rows. CSV input produces UTF-8 CSV output; XLSX input produces an Excel workbook with data and metadata sheets.
Zone and hemisphere
UTM zones are numbered 1–60. Southern Hemisphere northings include the 10,000,000 m false northing.
Multiple ellipsoids
The selected ellipsoid changes the projection geometry only. It does not transform coordinates between datums or reference frames.
Forward and reverse
The same Transverse Mercator series is used in both directions, with double-precision browser calculations.
